ACTION GIRL OF THE MONTH: Julia Neumann

B&W Portrait Kleinwalsertal

What is your name?
Julia Neumann

What do you do for living and where do you do it?
During winter I’m a ski freerider, spending my time in the alps constantly searching for perfect powder. In summer I study to become a sports and English teacher, my university is located in Marburg, which is pretty much in the middle of Germany and close to my home town.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is definitely the fact that I being outside in the mountains. Every day out there is a new adventure and you can never really say what is about to happen. I’m always with my friends and we’re having great fun together. Every day I spent skiing is a good day. But I also enjoy to work with the students. It’s something completely different to what I do during winter, but seeing the kids learn is something great, too.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I just love to do sports and so I try all kinds of different sports in my spare time. I live in a small village surrounded by beautiful nature and some smaller mountains. The sport I enjoy most is mountain biking. The trails around my home town are great. And so I just need to get on my bike and into the woods to enjoy nature. I also like to go running and if I find enough time, I also love to go windsurfing. For me it is a pleasure to try out new things and so I always try to experience new sports. When I’ve got enough time I also love to get creative, I like to draw and I’m very much into trying out new DIY ideas I found on Pinterest…

What was your last travel destination and what will be the next?
I went to France for some skiing. I have no fixed plans on where my next travel destination will be, but I would love to visit my Russian host-sister, which is now living in Haifa, Israel. I always wanted to go there and I hope that it works out during my easter-holidays.

Favorite city?
Saint Petersburg in Russia. Ten years ago I lived there as an exchange student and ever since it is my favorite city. All those historical buildings, the palaces and the amount of culture is just magnificent.

Who do you like to follow on Instagram and why?
Most people I follow on Instagram are either skiers or people who inspire me with their lifestyle. I like the posts of Sierra Quitiquit, I met her on a job and she’s a really inspiring woman who doesn’t take herself too seriously and is probably one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met. But I must admit that I also follow some, mostly Scandinavian fashion bloggers to get some outfit inspiration =)

Summer or Winter?
Actually both. I couldn’t do without summer, but I just looooove the snowy days in winter.

Dress or Jeans?
Jeans, but I definitely want to wear more dresses…

Tv-Show or Movie?
Movie

Cheese or Bacon?
Definitely two things I can’t live without.

Ocean or Mountains?
Mountains <3

Name 5 things you can’t live without, when you are going on a road-trip!
Good music, books, sports equipment, camera, sunnies.

Ok, last question: if you could be an animal, what would it be? (Unicorns and dragons are counting as well!)
I’d love to be an elephant. They’re such amazing animals, and I’d love to have a trunk to grab things with. I find it so amazing that they are able to grab and hold things with their “nose”…
