I’ve been to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula before – but didn’t remember how amazing it is. So if now someone asks me what to do in Iceland, when you have not that much time, I always say – go to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula! There is so much! Oh Iceland… you are so beautiful – even with 3 weeks of bad weather! 😉 This is the video of our trip around Iceland. We came with our own car from Germany, drove to Denmark and took the ferry to Iceland. But see for yourself, it was amazing – as always!
On our way around Iceland we drove by the south coast as well! Including one of my favorite places on earth – the Glacier Lagoon, Jökursarlagon! I’m always amazed, this place is just magical. There was less ice, than the times I’ve visited this place before, but still so beautiful. We also camped right next to the beach, which is allowed. At least there was no sign, which said we couldn’t and of course we weren’t the only ones. 😉 The glacier lagoon was followed by the famous waterfalls next to Skaftafell, Skogafoss and Selfoss, spending the night in Vik, close to the Black Beach. We really wanted to go bouldering and climbing in Iceland. In our imagination we would just stop when we see some rocks and try to go bouldering. Yeah… we didn’t expect the weather to be that bad. So this was more or less the only time we went bouldering. The first spot was, close to Skaftafell, on a black beach, pretty random, but quite nice. The second spot and probably the most famous one for bouldering in Iceland was Vestrahorn. Extremely scenic, but we thought it was quite hard to find hard boulders. Nevertheless we highly recommend going there – even if you are not into bouldering – this view and this beach are something special! We started our trip in Seyðisfjörður, since we came this way with the ferry! We had two days of super sunny weather and enjoyed this little village with all its amazing art. We also ended out trip there at the right time – when the LungA Art Festival took part. We can highly recommend strolling through all parts of this village and have lunch at the Nordic Restaurant.
