ACTION GIRL OF THE MONTH: Laura Lawson Visconti

I discovered Laura through Nikita Clothing, since we both are part of the NikitaNATION. I clicked through her blog and could’t stop reading her story and looking at those amazing images. This girl is just rad! I love her positive vibes and also her amazing style. Ok I will stop worshipping now, but honestly this girl… Here is a little interview I did with her, enjoy and get to know Laura!

What is your name?
Laura Lawson Visconti

What do you do for living and where do you do it?
I am a personal trainer! I work in downtown Portland, Oregon.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
I love helping people get healthy and watch their quality of life improve. I am definitely a people person, so being able to work one-on-one with individuals and help them in such an important way means a lot to me. I like to think of it as preventative medicine. My motto is that you shouldn’t spend your life in the gym; you should spend a little time in the gym in order to enjoy a lifetime outside. That’s really what it’s all about!

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Oh my gosh, what DON’T I like to do in my spare time?! I am a watercolor artist, author, blogger and photographer. On the side, I partner with brands shooting social media projects for my Instagram account. I also love being outdoors (of course), doing all the “ings”: trail running, biking, hiking, kayaking… you name it. My husband (former professional snowboarder Nick Visconti) taught me how to snowboard a few years back so I’m enjoying learning that as well, and getting into the mountains as much as possible! I love weight training and yoga and make time to do both a few times per week; they balance each other out really well. I love living in Portland and exploring the foodie scene; good coffee and good whiskey are both musts. I’m also super involved with my church – my faith in Jesus is the most important thing in my life and it’s so wonderful having a community of like-minded people around me!

What was your last travel destination and what will be the next?
I travel whenever I can. The best feeling in the whole world is being on the road, exploring new places, making new memories, meeting new people. Nick and I recently went on a vacation to Kauai with his family which was pretty magical. The last time I traveled internationally was to Shanghai, China a year ago. No major travel plans right now – we’ve been pretty tied down in Portland as of late, which has been a nice change… but admittedly I am itching to pull out my passport again! Never not wanting to hit the road and explore.

Favorite city?
Oooooh. That’s a tough one. My favorite city in the US is Seattle, which I recently lived in for a few years and miss every day. My favorite international city has got to be Barcelona, Spain. I have such an inexplicable draw to that place. Take me back!!

Are you on Instagram, if yes can we follow you? 🙂
Yes of course! 😉 @lauralawsonvisconti

Show me your 3 favorite Instagram images you took!
Here are a few random favorites over the last couple of months.

Who do you like to follow on Instagram and why?

My answer to this changes all the time. Right now, I’m loving @mountaingirls, @morganmaassen, @viewfromthetopp, @ioegreer, and @nikewomen is always a fave.

Summer or Winter?
Both!

Dress or Jeans?
Jeans all the way (or even better, yoga pants). But dresses from Free People will always have my heart 😉

Tv-Show or Movie?
Netflix!

Cheese or Bacon?
Cheeeeeeeeeeese!

Ocean or Mountains?
Both!

Name 5 things you can’t live without, when you are going on a road-trip!
1. My husband Nick. He is my favorite adventure partner!

2. My iPhone. I love capturing images along the way and editing them for Instagram while in the car.
3. Workout clothes! It’s important to stretch your legs after sitting for long periods of time. I love getting a good workout in while on the road.
4. Music! I always make sure to have a long playlist ready.
5. Good conversation. I know this is a cheesy answer, but it is also very true to myself. I live for a good heart to heart conversation. Your mind starts to unravel while on the road; it’s so cleansing. To me, this is the best part of a roadtrip!

Ok, last question: if you could be an animal, what would it be? (Unicorns and dragons are counting as well!)
I think I would be a bird. I love the idea of flight – so carefree!

Anything else you wanna say?
Thank you for taking the time to interview me! Your blog makes me smile, so I hope my words made you smile as well! XO LLV
