ACTION GIRL OF THE MONTH: Jillian Lukiwski

Whats your name?
Jillian Lukiwski – but I’m also known as The Noisy Plume.

What do you do for living and where do you do it?
I am an independent metalsmith, freelance photographer and writer.  I currently split my year between the Rocky Mountain escarpments of Idaho and the North Cascades of Washington.  We just sold our house in Idaho and are living out of our Airstream, full time.  Photography jobs take me all over the interior West of Canada and the USA.

Whats your favorite part of your job?
The freedom and the hard work.  I can’t have one without the other.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I fly fish, upland hunt, big game hunt, nordic ski, skijor my German shorthaired pointers, cook, garden, hike, trail run, raft and I do some leather working and painting every now and again.

What was your last travel destination and what will be the next?
I just arrived home from Alaska yesterday and today I am rolling out to Idaho, Montana and Utah (it’s a long-ish trip) for work and pleasure.

Favorite city?
Chicago, here in the USA.  Saskatoon, my hometown in Canada.  Budapest. I hardly ever go to cities, to be honest.  They’re off my radar.  Maybe the right answer is City of Rocks, in Idaho, which isn’t really a city at all…

Are you on Instagram, if yes can we follow you? 🙂

Who do you like to follow on Instagram and why?
I follow the companies I work for as a photographer, a handful of photographers I admire and am inspired by, and my closest friends.  I try to keep it real and am actually very guilty of hardly ever looking at the feed on my home page.  I’m on Instagram but I’m not really OF Instagram…if you know what I mean.

Summer or Winter?
Winter.

Dress or Jeans?
Both at the same time.

Tv-Show or Movie?
Books.

Cheese or Bacon?
Elk.

Ocean or Mountains?
Mountains.

Name 5 things you can’t live without, when you are going on a road trip!
Good music or an audio book, my dogs, a down jacket, cowboy boots and my cameras.

Ok, last question: if you could be an animal, what would it be?
(Unicorns and dragons are counting as well!)
A blushing cutthroat trout cruising mountain water all the live long day.

Anything else you wanna say?

Peace.
